Harry Wilson was in top form on Saturday for Bournemouth against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham.

The Wales international was on the scoresheet twice in the 3-2 defeat, with his brace including a stunning free-kick. His impressive 8.19 WhoScored rating was clearly the best amongst his teammates, and it will likely have caught the eye of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds supporters were also impressed by the 22-year-old’s captivating performance, and were quick to praise the former Hull City loanee.

He is having a good season on the south-coast right now. In 10 starts for the Cherries, he has six goals, which leads the way amongst his teammates, and in his last five games for club and country alone, he has four strikes to his name. He is really beginning to star on a regular basis.

In particular, it was that set-piece that had the Anfield outfit’s supporters talking, with them clearly loving his ability to hit the back of the net from dead-ball situations.

Indeed, he knows how to strike a good free-kick. That is his seventh goal from such situations in the last two seasons, which fully illustrates how deadly he is.

In the grander scheme of things, Liverpool fans have been discussing where Wilson fits in to Klopp’s squad moving forward. With Adam Lallana out of contract in the summer, a number of fans are suggesting that the £16.2m-valued man – as per Transfermarkt – could be a replacement for the former Southampton youth product.

It is certainly an interesting suggestion, and it makes sense for the fans to talk about a replacement for Lallana. But Wilson is a right-winger, whilst the 31-year-old has played mostly in central midfield and defensive midfield this campaign. Given how well he has performed on the right wing for Eddie Howe’s side, Wilson would be competing with Mohamed Salah for a place – that is surely a battle he wouldn’t win.

For now, though, Liverpool fans and Wilson himself can enjoy his form for Bournemouth.

Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to emphasise the importance of Danny Ings, following yet another crucial strike from the forward against Norwich.Ings’ goal against the Canaries came just days after he netted against another relegation rival in Watford, helping the Saints overcome both opponents by a 2-1 scoreline to hand them six vital points in their battle for survival.The former Liverpool man – who cost the south coast side £20m – took his tally for the season to eight goals in the Premier League, one more than he managed in the entirety of the previous campaign.Ings, 27, has also scored more Premier League goals this season than elite attackers such as Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, a statistic that one Southampton fan below mentions while also stating that the England international is everything they hoped he’d be.

This fan went on to say that the key is to keep him fit, while stating that Ings’ work rate is second to none.

That same supporter, as well as the one below them, both mentioned that it could be the former Burnley man’s goals that keep them in the Premier League, clearly demonstrating his importance to the club.

Additionally, the love-in for Ings continued as this fan said that he is the best goalscorer and the best at pressing, while also being the “best attacking passer” as well as a top three dribbler of the ball, presumably meaning at Southampton rather than in the top-flight as a whole.

Lastly, these two fans are also in adoration of the striker. One said that they think Ings is one of the best English strikers right now and “deserves a call-up” to Gareth Southgate’s squad, while they other supporter said that the in-form attacker has been a “great signing”.

Celtic’s hopes of landing transfer target Niklas Dorsch now appear to be over after the German midfielder said that he would prefer to remain in his homeland.

Last month, The Telegraph reported that the 21-year-old central midfielder from FC Heidenheim was on the Hoops’ radar as a potential target.

However, as reported by The Scottish Sun on Tuesday, he has said that his desire is to play in the Bundesliga, with his current club sitting just outside a promotion play-off place in the second tier in Germany.

Dorsch said: “At the moment, I just want to be successful with Heidenheim. We do outstanding work there, have a great environment and are strong in the league. We are realistic, but we have a good chance of promotion.” [via The Scottish Sun]

He added: “I’ve read about interest from other clubs, but for me, playing in the Bundesliga should always be the goal of an ambitious young player like myself.” [via The Scottish Sun]

Dorsch’s passing ability is probably one of the main reasons why Celtic identified him as a transfer target – he has a 90.4% accuracy rate from an average of 55.8 passes per game this season (as per WhoScored).

Among Celtic’s squad, only Callum McGregor has had a better accuracy rate (90.9%) from their first team regulars, while only McGregor and Greg Taylor have recorded more passes per game. [via WhoScored]

The 21-year-old defensive midfielder has also demonstrated an aptitude for breaking up play in 2. Bundesliga this term, with an average of 2.5 successful tackles per game (as per WhoScored).

Only four Celtic players have a higher average, with two of those (Ryan Christie and Scott Brown) posting a marginally superior rate of 2.6 tackles won per game. [via WhoScored]

Dorsch is not a regular scorer, with just one in 17 appearances in 2019/20, although he has set up three goals this season in 1,482 minutes, an average of one every 494 minutes. [via WhoScored]

Brown, who plays in a similar position for Celtic, has enjoyed a prosperous scoring run of late with four goals since the start of November, including a stoppage-time winner against Hamilton last week.

Dorsch’s tremendous passing ability and his penchant for halting opposition attacks would likely have made him an astute addition to Celtic’s squad if they had brought him to Parkhead, so his public desire to remain in Germany is disappointing from a Hoops perspective.

However, with Brown proving even more adept at winning tackles and popping up with his fair share of goals, the captain’s form has lessened the blow of being unable to attract Dorsch to Glasgow.

In fact, the failure to land the tackling machine may even turn out to be a blessing in disguise, with the skipper seemingly getting better with age like a fine wine.

وأوضح “IFAB” في بيان رسمي: “خلال اجتماع مجلس إدارة IFAB الذي عقد اليوم عن طريق الفيديو، وافق الأعضاء على تمديد التعديل المؤقت للقانون 3 – اللاعبون، والذي يمنح منظمي المسابقة خيار السماح للفرق باستخدام ما يصل إلى خمسة تبديلات لكل مباراة، حتى 31 ديسمبر 2022”.

وتابع: “تم تقديم التعديل المؤقت في مايو 2020، ويهدف إلى دعم رفاهية اللاعبين، لا سيما في حالة تعطل الجداول الزمنية، مما يؤدي في كثير من الأحيان إلى إقامة المنافسات في فترة مكثفة”.

وأتم: “سيواصل مجلس الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (IFAB) مراجعة تأثير الوباء على كرة القدم والتشاور مع أصحاب المصلحة بشأن مسألة الرفاهية المهمة هذه”.

Newcastle United’s prospective £300m takeover is in ‘serious doubt’ according to fresh reports from the Guardian this week.It is claimed that the World Trade Organisation have found that Saudi Arabia are behind illegal satellite TV service beoutQ, meaning it may threaten the deal involving the Magpies as it could be a breach of international law.The WTO’s report won’t be made official until mid-June, so there could be a further wait for news from the Premier League in terms of the takeover being approved.However, big Geordie figure Steve Wraith has delivered his verdict on this latest twist as he played it down in a series of tweets.He said:

An update on Liverpool’s link to Timo Werner claims it was ‘genuine’, but current events meant the club couldn’t capitalise. 

According to a report from Paul Joyce, (relayed via @AnfieldEdition), the Reds were unable to bring the RB Leipzig star to Anfield due to financial worries as a result of the ongoing pandemic. Whilst the Merseyside outfit were forced to pull the plug, Chelsea have swooped in and Werner could be joining the Blues next season (via Sky Sports).

Joyce writes that Jurgen Klopp is now instead planning to call upon Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Neco Williams, who have all stood out this campaign.

Liverpool local Jones has been head and shoulders above the majority of young Reds this season. The 19-year-old made four FA Cup appearances and scored two goals, including the winner against bitter rivals Everton in January (via Transfermarkt).

However, fans aren’t impressed with this revelation and are slamming the club for not succeeding in signing Werner. One supporter has tweeted Liverpool’s attitude is ’embarrassing’ whilst another thinks Klopp has ‘lost the plot’. This is something of an overreaction, given the Reds are currently 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League ahead of the restart (BBC Sport).

However, it hasn’t stopped these fans from airing their grievances about the Werner affair and the fact that instead of signing the German, Klopp will play some youngsters…
