Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa should reunite with Chelsea and Belgium star Michy Batshuayi this summer amid some recent transfer claims.

What’s the story?

According to recent reports from The Telegraph, Bielsa is keen on luring Batshuayi to Elland Road this summer, with the Belgium international spending last season on loan at fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace.

And now, speaking exclusively to This is Futbol, Carlton Palmer has dropped his verdict on the Whites pursuing a move for a player Bielsa has worked with before at French side Marseille.

He said: “Well he knows him, doesn’t he? Managers generally like to work with players they know, players like to go work for managers they know because they get the best out of them.

“Listen, Bielsa will be looking at that and thinking if he can get him in, it’d be a decent addition to the squad because that’s what you need. I think Bielsa will be interested. We’ll just have to wait and see.”

Bielsa could transform him

Lauded as a “real goal-scorer” by former Borussia Dortmund boss, Peter Stoger, the £9m-rated Batshuayi has had the experience of working under Bielsa while at Marseille, and though he has since admitted it was a tough period for him, it’s something he claims has been invaluable to his development.

He said: “But looking back, I tell myself he knew who to do this with. Some needed this support. Me, he understood my personality, he knew that I could draw on my resources.

“I’ll tell you something. One day he told me something shocking. For several months, he hardly spoke to me. And the time he came to talk to me, he just said, ‘When you go out of here, you’re gonna go for 40 million’. He just told me that. In my head, I said to myself, ‘But he’s crazy’. In the end, he was right.”

And, after hearing about the links to Batshuayi, David Norris also pointed to Batshuayi’s previous relationship with the Leeds boss as something that makes it a really good move for Leeds.

He said: “If they had a good relationship before and then he moved on because it was for a better move, then managers and players normally have a good relationship.

“He is proven but he just hasn’t played enough games at Chelsea. He’d be coming from a big club who have got a lot of money and are doing things so, I think on paper that’s a good signing.”

Given that the “powerful” Batshuayi enjoyed some of his best form in football under Bielsa – he scored ten goals in 29 games for the Argentine – the Leeds boss would feel confident of transforming his career once again, and helping him realise the kind of quality that eventually earned him a move to Chelsea in the first place.

Aston Villa must look to land Wales and Liverpool ace Neco Williams this summer amid a recent transfer update.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool “expect Neco Williams to push for a move after Euro 2020 with the club set to demand at least £10 million for the Wales full-back”.

The report added: “The Premier League quartet of Leeds, Southampton, Aston Villa and Burnley have all expressed genuine interest in Williams over the past 12 months. Villa are no longer interested in signing a full-back after bringing in Ashley Young, who can cover on either side.”

Dean Smith will love it

While The Athletic claimed that Villa may no longer be interested in bringing in a new full-back given their recent signing of Young, a deal for Williams is something Johan Lange must seriously reconsider.

Ryan Giggs once dubbed the £7.2m-rated dynamo an “outstanding” talent and, after impressing for Wales, he was full of praise for the youngster, saying: “He is a fantastic player, still young and still learning, but the energy and quality he has shown when he has stepped up into the first team has been really good, so it’s exciting.”

At just 20, Williams is a much younger profile of player compared to someone like 35-year-old Young, and unlike the he could offer Smith many years of service for the club.

Villa’s move for Young was very much focused on the short-term, and it seems likely they will soon be in the market for another full-back, perhaps 12 months down the line.

By going for Williams now, the Midlands club would be ensuring they have someone to provide real competition for Matty Cash both for the present and the long-term future.

Villa must reconsider their stance on the Welshman, as doing so could see Lange strike gold.

وأكمل: “شرف لأي لاعب أن يلعب في الأهلي أو الزمالك ولن أذهب إلى أي مكان إلا بموافقة النادي، وطموح لأي لاعب أن يلعب للقطبين ومنتخب مصر أيضًا، وجددت مع الاتحاد وما زال لدي 4 سنوات”.

وبسؤاله عن مواجهة الأهلي الماضية، أوضح: “نحن كل مباراة نلعب على الفوز لأن خلفنا الجماهير والإدارة، الشوط الأول لم يكن أفضل شيء لكن الشوط الثاني أدينا بشكل جيد وكانت لنا ركلة جزاء”.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek was a player of real promise a few years ago but like many players, injuries have slightly derailed his career and after a loan move to Fulham failed to reignite his career. However, Wolves legend Steve Bull has admitted that he would be an ideal player for the Midlands side.

“He’d be ideal, I’ve watched him quite a few times and he’s big, sturdy, not afraid to put his foot in or put his head where it hurts. If they were to bring him in I’d take him all day long.”

Thomas Tuchel appears set on his most trusted midfielders and they are Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic who all performed excellently in the new system that Tuchel brought to Stamford Bridge.

Apesar da classificação do Corinthians para a terceira fase da Copa do Brasil, o técnico Fabio Carille reconheceu que a equipe não atuou bem diante do Brusque, nesta quarta-feira. Para o comandante alvinegro, a atuação foi pior até mesmo do que a diante do Santo André, na única derrota que o Timão teve na temporada.

Depois do empate sem gols no tempo normal e a vitória, de virada, nos pênaltis por 5 a 4, o treinador analisou:

– Foi abaixo do que vínhamos apresentando. Mesmo na única derrota no ano, contra o Santo André, o time criou mais, com mais posse, finalizações, hoje a gente não conseguiu, muitos erros de passe, pouquinho desconcentrado em alguns momentos, fomos abaixo. Graças a Deus no final, na disputa de pênaltis, conseguimos passar – declarou.

O Timão apresentou dificuldades na criação e produziu pouco durante os 90 minutos, quando teve menos posse de bola e trocou menos passes que a equipe catarinense. A dificuldade para reter a bola foi um grandes problemas diagnosticados por Carille em sua entrevista coletiva.

-Não precisava ser tão sofrido, mas o jogo fez que fosse assim, adversário qualificado, conseguiu nos envolver no primeiro tempo, no segundo conseguimos ajeitar um pouquinho, mas fomos muito abaixo do que estamos acostumados – lamentou Carille.

O treinador também projetou dificuldades na próxima fase, contra o Luverdense, mas pediu foco no clássico de sábado, contra o Santos, na Arena.

Antes da vitória sobre o Brusque, o Corinthians vinha de quatro derrotas em disputas por pênaltis, sendo a mais recente para o São Paulo, na Florida Cup, em janeiro deste ano. Carille admitiu que temeu que essas recordações afetassem a equipe:

-Quando foi chegando na parte final do jogo, começa a vir lembrança das desclassificações anteriores, acho que isso é a maior pressão. Procurei acalmá-los, ter tranquilidade e convicção para fazerem o melhor, não mudarem de última hora, ir com o canto definido. Isso que procurei passar para os atletas.
