O atacante Romarinho ainda não foi oficializado como reforço do Fluminense, mas já conheceu o elenco e treinou no CT Pedro Antonio. Afastado do elenco principal do São Paulo há mais de dois meses, Lucão foi emprestado de graça para o Gil Vicente, que disputa a segunda divisão de Portugal. O zagueiro de 21 anos atuará até a metade de 2018 na equipe europeia, que bancará integralmente os seus salários.

O Tricolor acertou a negociação nesta quarta-feira. Ficou estipulado no contrato o valor de 2 milhões de euros (aproximadamente R$ 7,5 milhões) para venda e o São Paulo ainda garantiu uma participação de 20% do lucro de uma futura negociação do jogador.

Lucão está afastado do time principal desde que, em 18 de junho, na derrota por 2 a 1 para o Atlético-MG, irritou-se com as críticas por mais uma falha e avisou que estava de saída do clube. Passou os últimos dois meses trabalhando em horários diferentes do time que, hoje, está à disposição de Dorival Júnior.

Formado nas categorias de base do São Paulo, Lucão sempre foi tratado como uma das grandes promessas vindas de Cotia e esteve entre os cotados para disputar a Olimpíada de 2016. No ano passado, chegou a estar inicialmente envolvido na negociação em que o clube comprou o zagueiro Maicon do Porto, de Portugal. Mas sofre com críticas da torcida, principalmente, desde falha em derrota para o Corinthians no começo de 2016.

O zagueiro de 21 anos teve sequência como titular no começo do Campeonato Brasileiro, com Rogério Ceni no comando, mas foi afastado pela diretoria pela declaração de que “para alegria de muitos aí, já, já eu estou indo embora”. Foi multado em 20% do salário pelo que falou, além de ficar afastado.

Nesse período à procura de um novo clube, Lucão recusou oferta do Atlético-PR. Segundo seu empresário, o foco estava em uma transferência para a Europa, como a que acaba de ser concretizada – o Gil Vicente, porém, acumula duas vitórias, um empate e uma derrota e ainda não está na faixa de acesso para a elite portuguesa.

Lucão tem 92 jogos pelo São Paulo, com dois gols, e estava no time profissional desde 2013. Enquanto estava afastado, viu o zagueiro equatoriano Arboleda assumir a camisa 4 que ele usava, ratificando que não fazia mesmo mais parte dos planos são-paulinos.

It was a key contribution from Rodrigo, who now has two goals in as many league outings, but there is still a feeling that more is required from him, having been described as a ‘huge’ player by Hay in the past.

He later added: “With Conte’s admiration for Skipp already in place and Hojbjerg being a leader in the team and a key figure, Lucas could end up being the fall guy and revert to being an impact sub and rotational starter as the games come thick and fast.”

The verdict

Could Lucas possibly find joy in another role? The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare suggested last week that he could potentially slot in at wing-back, just as Victor Moses did during Conte’s spell at Chelsea.

Eccleshare wrote that giving Lucas the space to ‘build up a head of steam’ could be a ‘frightening proposition’ for defenders if he doesn’t appear a perfect fit for the position. He could probably operate as part of a front two as well, given that he’s been used as a centre forward or second striker 61 times over the course of his career.

Therefore, while Gold’s reservations are understandable, there is enough to suggest that the 28-year-old might not need to be hastily jettisoned from Conte’s starting line-up.
