أكد رونالدو نازاريو داليما، رئيس نادي بلد الوليد، ولاعب برشلونة وريال مدريد الأسبق، أن الكلاسيكو سيكون حماسيًا للغاية بين الفريقين غدًا الأحد.

رونالدو الظاهرة لعب لـ برشلونة ثم ريال مدريد، وبعد اعتزاله تولى رئاسة نادي بلد الوليد الإسباني، ومازال قريبًا من عملاقي الكرة الإسبانية.

وفي تصريحاته لشبكة “DAZN” العالمية، قال رونالدو: “كم سيكون الكلاسيكو لطيفًا، برشلونة قدم أمامنا (بلد الوليد) مباراة رائعة في كامب نو وعدوانية للغاية”.

Zimbabwe Cricket has confirmed that India and Sri Lanka will tour the country for a ODI tri-series between May 28 and June 9 this year. Each team plays the other twice before the final at the Harare Sports Club. India will stay back for two Twenty20 matches at the same venue on June 12 and 13.The announcement follows the postponement of New Zealand’s tour of the country over security issues. The tri-series kicks off with the home side taking on India at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, which will host the first three games.India last toured the country in 2005 for two Tests and a tri-series, also involving New Zealand. Sri Lanka last toured Zimbabwe in November 2008, sweeping the five-match ODI series. India are also likely to tour Sri Lanka in July and August for a proposed Test series and a tri-series involving New Zealand. The respective cricket boards are yet to finalise a schedule.

Sourav Ganguly, the Kolkata Knight Riders captain, hasn’t had the smoothest of tournaments, but was satisfied with his batting form after giving the Eden Gardens crowd plenty to cheer with a vintage display against Deccan Chargers. His 54-ball 88 powered Kolkata to a victory that kept them firmly in the middle of a pack of five mid-table teams separated by just two points.”It was a good wicket, the ball came on well,” he said, “I’ve been batting well for the last four-five games – 30s, 30s, 50s – it was good that I carried on today.”The win lifts Kolkata to eight points, and comes on the back of a stretch of five matches with only one success. “We started off well but then dropped a bit, we were in a spot where we needed to get some wins, the tournament’s still wide open but it was good to get a win.”Kolkata’s total turned into a formidable one thanks to the onslaught in the final four overs, which yielded 56 runs. Rangers failed to regain their six-point lead at the top of the Premiership table as the Ibrox giants were held to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.

Gio van Bronckhorst’s side failed to pick up all three points away to Aberdeen despite going 1-0 up early on through Ianis Hagi’s close-range strike.

Shining light

Despite the disappointing result and performance, there were some positives to take away from the game and one of them was the debut display from midfielder James Sands.

The January signing from New York City FC was given his first opportunity to show the Rangers fans what he is all about and he was the shining light for van Bronckhorst’s side.

Defensively, he worked hard for the team and put himself about on the pitch. As per SofaScore, he won seven duels as he made three tackles, one interception and two clearances, whilst also showing he is willing to put his foot in when needed by committing four fouls.

Sporting director Ross Wilson heaped praise on the American upon his arrival at Ibrox and pointed out his tactical knowledge, saying:

“Gio has looked closely at what he can bring to Rangers and I know working with the manager and our staff, James will develop his game further here.

“Aside from his qualities with the ball, his versatility and tactical understanding, we also know that James is a brilliant character, positive personality and despite his young age, is already showing impressive leadership qualities.”

This was in full view against Aberdeen as he put himself in positions to win the ball back for his side, although he was ultimately let down by the team’s performance as others struggled to show the best versions of themselves.

On the ball, Sands was reliable and composed. As per SofaScore, he completed 100% of his dribble attempts and 81% of his passes as he had 43 touches of the ball. He only gave possession away eight times in 90 minutes, showing that he has the quality to be dependable at this level, as he did not regularly cede ground to the opposition.

Therefore, he was van Bronckhorst’s shining light as he caught the eye with both sides of his game and the Dutch head coach will surely be delighted with his promising debut.

Big Picture Deccan Chargers refuse to fade away. Just when you thought they were slipping away, they bounced back with a win. Just when you thought they were over-reliant on big names, T Suman led from front. Just when you thought they were really poor while bowling in the end overs, they produced a near-perfect end game against Chennai Super Kings.The clarity over each player’s role, so well defined during last year’s winning campaign, is gradually coming to the fore. Andrew Symonds is the finisher, Rohit Sharma the engine of the batting, Suman provides the momentum and Monish Mishra the much-needed blast at the top.Deccan will hope Adam Gilchrist fires in the upcoming pressure games. It isn’t as if he has looked out of touch, but he has rarely converted any of his starts. The bowling, despite their good showing against Chennai, has not looked completely reliable.Things won’t be as easy against Royal Challengers Bangalore, as was the case with Chennai. Bangalore, too, were appearing to lose the plot after they lost four out of five games, but roared back with a commanding performance against Kolkata Knight Riders.After Rahul Dravid joined the form men with a delightful fifty in that match, Bangalore’s batting looks solid. The bowling has been iffy; they conceded 180-plus totals in the three consecutive games before improving against Kolkata, keeping them to 160. Despite that performance, the bowling will remain a headache and Deccan have the batting firepower, on their day, to take full toll.If Bangalore win on Monday, they will move a step closer to qualifying for the semi-finals with 14 points and two games to play. Deccan are currently placed seventh, and are in a tougher situation with a poor net run-rate of -0.539. In the previous game between the teams, Suman played a responsible hand to steer Deccan to a seven-wicket win at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. In the spotlight Anil Kumble has been a treat to watch. The two-fingered googlies have worked like a charm and he has shown mastery in varying his pace. He has never been shy to take on the toughest batsmen and continues to be Bangalore’s best bowler.Andrew Symonds may not have been at his brutal best, be but he is playing his role to perfection. In the last few games, he has showcased his great skill of knowing exactly when to play the big shot and has backed his instincts. Prime numbers With 61 fours, Jacques Kallis is way ahead of Andrew Symonds (27 fours), the nearest competitor from the opposition. With 21 sixes, Robin Uthappa has six more than Adam Gilchrist, the man with the most sixes for Deccan. Uthappa’s 179.74 is the best strike-rate among those who have scored 200 or more in this IPL.Both Vinay Kumar (4 for 40) and Anil Kumble (3 for 9) feature in the list of the top five bowling figures in an innings. An update has emerged on Newcastle United and their transfer pursuit of Borussia Monchengladbach’s Alassane Plea.

According to French outlet L’Equipe, the Magpies are keen on a deal to sign the attacker to bolster their squad this month.

The report claims that Newcastle have asked Allan Saint-Maximin, who was a teammate of Plea’s at Nice in Ligue 1, for information on the attacker.

Fans will surely be buzzing with this news as it suggests that Eddie Howe is seriously interested in a deal to sign a player who could be a terrific addition to the team.

Dieter Hecking previously praised his ability to find the back of the net, saying: “It’s great that we have a forward who can score goals.

“It’s a bit surprising that he’s already scored two headers. You couldn’t see that from training. Of course it’s quality when he sees situations. I’m very happy with the way he’s progressing.”

His goalscoring prowess is highlighted by his impressive record for Nice and Gladbach over the years and shows why fans will be delighted with this news. He is a goalscorer and has proven that in France and Germany, suggesting that he could come in at St. James’ Park and be able to find the back of the net in the Premier League.

This could, therefore, increase the club’s chances of staving off relegation as his goals could win crucial points for Howe’s side and allow them to crawl out of the bottom three. Therefore, PIF must ensure that they are able to get a deal over the line for Plea to bolster the ex-Bournemouth coach’s squad.
