Pouco tempo após a eleição de Sérgio Sette Câmara, a nova gestão atleticana iniciou o período de mudanças no setor comercial e no futebol da base do clube. Após os desligamentos de João Gomide, da superintendência comercial, e de Pedro Tavares, da direção de Planejamento e Marketing, o clube anunciou a demissão de André Figueiredo da direção das categorias de base nesta quarta-feira.

Em 14 anos de clube, Figueiredo esteve na direção de futebol da base e chegou a ser superintendente de futebol profissional durante junho e agosto, mas foi desligado do cargo após críticas da torcida, retornando ao cargo anterior.

A expectativa é de que o ex-atacante Marques assuma a posição. Entretanto, Bebeto Freitas, também vem sendo cogitado pela nova gestão. Atualmente, o ex-presidente do Botafogo é secretário de esportes de Belo Horizonte. Como dirigente, Bebeto acumula passagens pelo Galo em 2001 e 2009.

Apesar de não entrar em detalhes, a assessoria do Atlético-MG afirmou que informações sobre as mudanças na diretoria serão repassadas durante a coletiva que Sérgio Sette Câmara concederá às 10h desta quinta-feira, na sede administrativa do Galo, localizada no bairro de Lourdes.

Em novembro, Cueva atrasou na sua volta do Peru e acabou multado pelo São Paulo. Nesta quarta-feira, o meia não se reapresentou das férias com o elenco, no CT da Barra Funda, mas, para escapar de uma punição, avisou com antecedência: conclui ações publicitárias visando a Copa do Mundo e teve a liberação da diretoria.

A expectativa é de que o jogador já esteja no Brasil no sábado, mas o clube, em comunicado publicado em sua página oficial no Facebook, disse que o espera no início da próxima semana. O mesmo período é dado ao meio-campista argentino Jonatan Gomez, “liberado para tratar assuntos pessoais”.

O São Paulo não confirma oficialmente a justificativa do atraso de Cueva, definindo seu argumento como “questões particulares”. Mas o meio-campista informou aos dirigentes que teria compromissos publicitários e, por isso, não houve surpresa com a sua ausência na manhã desta quarta-feira, no CT da Barra Funda.

O aviso com antecedência ameniza bastante na comparação com o último atraso do camisa 10. Em novembro, logo após classificar o Peru para a Copa, ele deveria treinar no dia 18, sendo titular no dia seguinte, contra o Botafogo. Mas chegou pouco mais de dez horas antes da partida e, embora tenha entrado no segundo tempo, recebeu uma multa que dirigentes destacavam como uma das maiores da história do clube.

Hoje, Raí é o diretor executivo de futebol, com o ex-zagueiro Ricardo Rocha como coordenador de futebol, e o aviso com antecedência sobre o atraso, a princípio, foi visto com bons olhos. Cueva já tinha se reapresentado com atraso para a pré-temporada de 2017, com problema na amígdala.

Dorival Júnior sempre ressaltou a importância de Cueva desde que chegou ao cargo, em julho, e conta com o peruano para a temporada. A expectativa é de que o meia tenha um ano com mais regularidade, já que deixou boa impressão ao crescer tecnicamente na reta final do Campeonato Brasileiro, quando o time se livrou de vez de qualquer risco de rebaixamento.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been directed to provide all relevant material pertaining to the punishments handed out to seven of the country’s leading cricketers, including the inquiry report, as the independent arbitrator Irfan Qadir began his hearing into their cases on Friday.”I have instructed the PCB to give the required material so that lawyers [of the players] come well prepared in the next hearing for arguments,” Qadir told reporters. This was based on requests placed by the lawyers of Younis, Malik and Naved, who appeared before Qadir today.The PCB imposed the fines and bans after Pakistan’s disastrous performance on the tour of Australia earlier this year. Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan were banned indefinitely while Shoaib Malik and Naved-ul-Hasan were banned for one year. Shahid Afridi and the Akmal brothers – Kamran and Umar – were fined Rs. 2-3 million ($24,000-35,000) and put on six-month probations.Yousuf and Younis had been charged with causing infighting in the team, but the PCB did not furnish clear reasons for the bans on Malik and Naved. The fines on Afridi and the Akmal brothers were more clear-cut – Afridi was caught biting the ball during the final ODI, while the Akmal brothers openly opposed the team management’s decision over Kamran’s participation in the third Test. All the punished players barring Yousuf, who announced his retirement from the game in late March, formally appealed against the punishments.Younis’ next hearing will be held on May 8, while Malik and Naved will reappear before the arbitrator on May 22. Younis’ lawyer Mohammad Ahmed Qayyum is reported to have asked for the trial to be open to the media, which would be considered before the next hearing.”I still feel my client’s hands are clean as he did nothing wrong,” Qayyum said. “So far we don’t even know on what grounds PCB gave Younis such a punishment.”

The Reds have been linked with a move for the 19-year-old in recent days, seemingly seeing him as someone who could come in and provide added squad depth and be a part of an eventual rebuild once the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are past their peaks.

The Verdict: Perfect squad addition

Much like Harvey Elliott, who also arrived from Fulham back in 2019, Carvalho is a hugely exciting English teenager who could enjoy a similarly meteoric rise.

The attacking midfielder has been hailed as ‘fantastic’ by current manager Marco Silva and his average of 1.6 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in the Championship highlight his ability to break the lines and create chances.

No Liverpool midfielder has averaged more key passes in the Premier League this season, with Elliott and Jordan Henderson (both 1.3) leading the way, showing what the youngster could add to the team if he follows Diaz to Merseyside this month.

Speaking to SportNet, a source close to Sparta defender Hancko, his agent Michael Holescak, has refused to rule out the possibility of his client joining West Ham due to the connection through Daniel Kretinsky.

“The connection between Sparta and West Ham is obvious,” Holesczak says when asked about the possibility of Hancko joining the club.

“So something like that wouldn’t be a big surprise. Anyway, Hancko is currently ready for any of the top five European leagues.”

The Verdict: Get it done?

The 6 foot 2 powerhouse would be a fairly straight forward move to negotiate given minority West Ham shareholder Kretinsky is also the co-chairman of Sparta.

His connections would, arguably, make this an easy move to facilitate as the Hammers’ Czech connections continue to grow.

In terms of quality, Hancko is highly versatile, able to play both left-back and as a central defender – not to mention his estimated market value is only around £3.6m (Transfermarkt).

The Slovakia international, amassing just under 20 caps, may be one to consider for the summer.

Rua Aurélia, esquina com Rua Clélia. É por lá que anda Vilson de Paula Afonso, corintiano de 52 anos. Você possivelmente não conhece Vilson pelo nome, mas ele é o dono de uma camisa do Corinthians que emocionou a internet nos últimos dias. Na quinta-feira, uma foto do torcedor com uma camisa improvisada do Timão viralizou na web. A imagem vinha acompanhada com a localização de onde foi feito o clique. Seguindo as pistas, o LANCE! foi até o endereço na manhã deste sábado. E lá estava Vilson, orgulhosamente vestido com o seu manto sagrado desenhado com um pedaço de carvão.

Vilson é morador de rua. Ele dorme na Alameda Santos, próximo da Avenida Paulista, e passa o dia naRua Aurélia trabalhando como guardador de carros. Eram 8h da manhã quando sentamos numa lanchonete bem na esquina do começo do texto. Não demorou cinco minutos para o nosso protagonista aparecer. “Senta aqui com a gente. Quer tomar um café?”. Ele aceitou e foi no balcão. Quando voltou, veio para a mesa com um copo de pinga: “Não vai ser uma entrevista, vai ser um bate-papo”, disse Vilson, com uma simpatia ímpar.

Entre sorrisos e goles, Vilson explicou a história de sua camisa improvisada:

-Eu tinha ganho uma camisa do Corinthians há muito tempo. Um dia, fui dar uma lavada nela e coloquei pra secar. Aí, na hora que eu volto… Cadê a camisa do meu time? Levaram a camisa do meu Corinthians, roubaram… Aí eu tinha essa camisa branca aqui. Bonitona, né? Eu pensei… Vou improvisar uma do Corinthians. Comecei a rabiscar e pronto. Rabisquei com carvão pra ficar preto e branco. Pelo menos voltei a ter uma camisa do meu time. Tinha que ter.

Vilson, mais conhecido como “Negão” pelas ruas, passou a ser procurado por torcedores do Corinthians após sua foto se espalhar pela internet. Ainda na quinta-feira ele ganhou uma camisa do Timão. Na sexta, foi presenteado com mais quatro, além de um boné com o símbolo do clube – que virou seu xodó.

-Já recebi, em mãos, cinco camisas e o boné. Estou muito feliz, de coração. Quando a primeira pessoa veio e me deu, eu pensei: O que está acontecendo? Depois um amigo aqui da região me mostrou a foto no celular: Esse aqui é você, né? Na hora da foto, eu estava levando um caixote que umasenhora de uma loja tinha me encomendado. Poderia ter sido um tiro pelas costas, mas foi uma coisa boa, graças a Deus – disseVilson, justificando porque ainda estava usando a camisa improvisada mesmo tendo recebido diversas camisas novas:

-Essa camisa é a que foi destaque, é com essa que o pessoal está me reconhecendo. Escondi as outras. Um amigo de um estacionamento aqui na região permitiu que eu deixasse lá. Deixei lá no fundo, bem escondido. Preciso deixar bem guardado, né… Vai que acham. Nas ruas, achado não é roubado.

Levantamos da mesa e fomos para a calcada da Rua Clélia, em frente à lanchonete, o local exato da foto que viralizou. Lá,Vilson recebeu das nossas mãos a atual camisa três do Corinthians. A emoção tomou conta do momento.

-Essa paixão pelo Corinthians vai desde mil novecentos e lá vai bolinha! (risos) 77 então, meu! Basílio! Chutou e é gol! A Ponte Preta tentou derrubar a gente. Dicá jogava muito… Eu estava em Pindamonhangaba (SP). Sou de Suzano (SP), mas nessa ocasião o meu coroa, meu pai, que faleceu ano passado, estava trabalhando em Pindamonhangaba. Ele trabalhava em obras e a gente ia com ele pelas cidades onde tinha trabalho. Ele era corintiano, é claro. Toda família é. Somos em seis irmãos, tudo (sic) Corinthians. Um mora aqui, o outro mora ali, mas eles constituíram família – falou Vilson, que só estudou até a oitava série.

Vilson nunca entrou na Arena Corinthians. O mais próximo que passou do estádio foi no metrô de Itaquera. Porém, as lembranças deste dia marcaram:

-Eu não entrei na Arena ainda. Já passei ao lado uma vez. Fui fazer uma visita para um irmão meu, que mora em Suzano, de trenzão: “tru tru tru” (imitando barulho de trem). Dá pra ver a Arena de dentro do metrô. Quando eu passei na frente do estádio… Eu fiquei impressionado quando vi. Só consigo ver os jogos pela televisão, quandovou passando por algum lugar que tem TV.

Com o sonho de ter uma camisa do Corinthians realizado,Vilson agora quer conquistar outros objetivos. A principal meta de 2018 é arrumar sua dentição:

-Estou tentando um dinheiro para um aluguel, até quem sabe comprar uma casa. Eu fico escondido aqui, escondido ali. Mas meu maior sonho no momento é arrumar meus dentes, colocar um implante nessa carcaça. Batalhei o ano passado inteiro, mas não deu. Joguei na Mega, joguei na Quina… Tem vezes que eu deixo a barba grande porque ela esconde as falhas nos dentes. Tão (sic) faltando alguns e os que sobraram estão querendo cair. Eu não quero pedir nada, mas esse é o meu maior sonho. Quero sorrir bonito nos gols do Timão.

Newcastle United moved further clear of the relegation zone as they beat Aston Villa 1-0 at St. James’ Park on Sunday.

The Toon thought they had the perfect chance to open the scoring when Craig Pawson awarded a penalty for a challenge on Joe Willock, but VAR decided that the contact was outside of the box and they were given a free-kick instead.

However, it turned out to be a productive one for Newcastle as Kieran Trippier rifled it in via a deflection – his second in as many games. That turned out to be enough to seal the three points for the Magpies, making it three wins in a row in the Premier League.

Whilst Trippier was the match-winning hero with his strike, another player was the star of the show for the Toon – Joelinton.

The Brazilian, who has been converted into a midfielder, was sensational throughout the game and crucial to everything Eddie Howe’s side wanted to do on the day at both ends of the pitch.

Defensively, he was a powerhouse for the team. As per SofaScore, he won a whopping 12 duels – with nine on the ground and three in the air. He also made two clearances, one interception and an impressive six tackles in midfield to show off his defensive awareness and tenacity to win the ball back off the opposition.

This proves that he was able to break up the play in the middle by cutting out Villa attacks with his tackles. He was strong enough to win his duels and not a lightweight in the middle – carrying his weight throughout the match.

On the ball, he looked to spread the play quickly. He hit early passes, with pace, out wide to Ryan Fraser several times in the first-half in an attempt to set him away at Lucas Digne and ended up with a pass completion of 78%, whilst completing one of his two attempted dribbles.

Whilst his attacking statistics do not stand out, he kept things simple and was effective and efficient in the middle of the park on the ball. He left the flashy play to the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin and Fraser, whilst making sure that he put in the graft defensively to seal the three points.

Therefore, Joelinton was the real star of the show as he did the dirty work that may sometimes go unnoticed in games in comparison to fancy flicks and tricks on the wing from the dazzling Saint-Maximin. The Brazilian was a machine throughout the game and deserves plaudits for the role he played in securing the three points.
