Zimbabwe Cricket has announced a US$1 million-plus kit sponsorship deal with sports manufacturer Reebok

ESPNcricinfo staff29-Oct-2010Zimbabwe Cricket has announced a US$1 million-plus kit sponsorship deal with sports goods manufacturer Reebok.”We have reached an agreement with Reebok to sponsor our national team and domestic league for three years,” Zimbabwe Cricket managing director Ozias Bvute told . “The agreement is worth nearly US$400,000 annually.”The deal, which was reached earlier this month, with Reebok brings to an end a long-term tie-in with the local manufacturers, Faith Wear. Reebok, a subsidiary of the German sports manufacturer Adidas, has also secured kit deals with the Sri Lanka and South Africa teams.The sponsorship deal is the latest in a series of positive measures taken as Zimbabwe bids for re-entry into the Test arena. Earlier this month, Zimbabwe Cricket said it planned to renovate two of the country’s main venues, Harare Sports Club and Mutare Sports Club. The work will result in an increase in crowd capacity and an improvement in playing and spectator facilities.

According to The Daily Star, the Magpies are among a number of clubs monitoring the England international ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Back in 2015, talkSPORT published a list of the best free-kick takers in Premier League history and Solano came in at number five. He had a 9% conversation rate from set pieces, scoring seven of his 78 such attempts on goal in the top flight. The midfielder played 315 games for Newcastle in total, scoring 48 goals and providing 77 assists.

Meanwhile, Ward-Prowse has played 302 matches for Southampton in the top division of English football and has found the net from a free-kick a whopping 14 times. Only David Beckham (18) has scored more in the history of the Premier League, which highlights just how much of a specialist the Saints captain is from dead ball situations.

This means that the 27-year-old can be the new Solano at St James’ Park, as he has proven his quality in the Premier League throughout his career, establishing himself as one of the best free-kick takers in the history of the top flight.

It would be wrong to only mention Ward-Prowse’s set-pieces when speaking about his ability, though, as he is an excellent and combative midfielder. He has averaged an excellent SofaScore rating of 7.31 across 33 appearances in the league this season, chipping in with nine goals and five assists whilst making 2.3 tackles and interceptions per game in the middle of the park.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports’ YouTube channel, Nathan Tella said that the Saints skipper “can do everything”. This shows that his all-round game is at a high level, as he has consistently delivered brilliant displays for Southampton throughout the campaign.

Therefore, he would be a fantastic signing for Newcastle, offering Howe a reliable high-quality option in midfield who also possesses a historically superb weapon in the form of his set-pieces.

Paine was batting when he was struck on the hand by a 148.2kph rising delivery from Dirk Nannes, and he immediately retired hurt.Channel Nine had Paine miked up during his innings and as he left the field with his glove off, he said it felt “seriously no good”. When asked if he thought a bone was broken, he replied: “I think so.”Paine was sent to hospital and x-rays revealed what was described as “a clean crack” in the finger, although it was not clear on Sunday night how long he would be out of action.Paine firmly established himself as the second in line to Brad Haddin this year, playing four Tests in England and India while Haddin was injured. Paine performed well in his first Tests, collecting 17 dismissals and averaging 35.87 with the bat.However, Paine was not expected to play any part in the Ashes unless Haddin suffered another injury. Haddin will play the first Test at the Gabba starting on Thursday, and it will be his first Test appearance since the tour of New Zealand in March.

يريد ديكلان رايس بقاء جاريث ساوثجيت في منصبه بعد أن قال مدرب إنجلترا إنه بحاجة إلى وقت للتفكير في مستقبله بعد هزيمة مؤلمة في ربع النهائي أمام فرنسا.

عانت إنجلترا من حسرة في البطولة الكبرى بعد هدف أوليفييه جيرو المتأخر ليحقق الفوز 2-1، مع إهدار هاري كين ركلة جزاء في الدقائق الأخيرة مما زاد من بؤسهم.

ومن المقرر أن ينتهي عقد ساوثجيت، الذي قاد إنجلترا إلى نصف نهائي كأس العالم في روسيا قبل أربع سنوات ثم نهائي بطولة أوروبا 2020 الصيف الماضي، لما بعد نهاية يورو 2024.

على الرغم من أن الاتحاد الإنجليزي يريد أن يستمر ساوثجيت في دوره كمدير فني، إلا أن المدرب البالغ من العمر 52 عامًا قال في مؤتمر صحفي بعد المباراة إنه لم يتخذ قرارًا بعد.

وفي وقت لاحق، أوضح رايس وجهة نظره للصحفيين عندما علق قائلاً: “بالنسبة لي شخصيًا، آمل أن يبقى ساوثجيت معنا، لا أعلم ما سيحدث وهناك الكثير من الحديث حول ذلك، لكنني أعتقد أنه كان رائعًا بالنسبة لنا وأعتقد أن هناك الكثير من الانتقادات التي لا يستحقها”.

وواصل: “لقد استقبلنا هدفين على عكس سير المباراة، وهذا ليس من اختصاص المدرب، الأمر متروك لنا في الملعب، آمل حقًا أن يبقى لأن المجموعة الأساسية التي لدينا وما صنعه لنا مميزة جدًا وأنا أحب اللعب معه وأحب اللعب في إنجلترا”.

وأكد: “أعتقد أنها كانت بطولة إيجابية حقًا، شعرنا أنه كان بإمكاننا فعل المزيد، ولكن عندما تنظر إلى الأداء، كان من المثير مشاهدته، لدينا مستقبل مشرق حقًا، نحن نحب أن يكون جاريث مدربًا، نحن نحب أن يبقى، بالتأكيد، لكن هذا قراره، أنا متأكد من أنه سيذهب بعيدًا ويفكر في ذلك”.

واختتم: “بصرف النظر عن هدفي تشواميني وجيرو، لا أتذكر أن فرنسا كانت مبدعة أمامنا، لعبنا بشكل جيد، الفريق الأفضل خسر”.

يغيب محمد عبد المنعم مدافع الأهلي عن مباراة فريقه المقبلة أمام فاركو التي ستقام ضمن منافسات الدوري المصري الممتاز.

Jacob Oram, the New Zealand allrounder, has termed his side’s performance in the fifth ODI against Pakistan in Hamilton as “dumb cricket”, and said captain Daniel Vettori gave the team an appropriately harsh talk after the match.Vettori missed the match with a hamstring injury but called a team meeting under the Seddon Park grandstand straight after the match. “Basically Dan kicked the management and support staff out, or maybe they just chose not to come and look us in the eye,” Oram said. “For an hour-and-a-half it was just the players in the dressing room and we didn’t get back to the hotel till 12.30am.”New Zealand’s loss in Hamilton was their 14th in their last 15 completed ODIs, and they have just one more match to play, against Pakistan in Auckland on Saturday, before the World Cup. Ross Taylor had said, after the fifth ODI, that the team was not far away from a win but individuals had to take more responsibility, and Oram said similar themes were discussed in the post-match meeting.”We’re just trying to get to the bottom of what is going on. We’re not far away but it’s happened too often for it to be just a coincidence. As we said, talent isn’t the issue. We all know how good the individuals in this team are. While Sri Lanka bossed the first two days, Yasoda Lanka compiling a double hundred and slow left-armer Supeshala Jayathilake taking 5 for 57 to force England to follow on, the visitors’ batsmen continued to fight in their second innings and the match was called off 84 overs into the fourth day.A 166-run partnership between Lanka and captain Bhanuka Rajapaksa formed the mainstay of Sri Lanka’s innings. Conditions were heavily in favour of the batsmen once again and there was little joy for England’s bowlers after they came together in the 30th over. Rajapaksa was the more aggressive of the two, reaching three figures in just 127 balls and hitting 12 fours and three sixes in his 129.Lanka batted on after Rajapaksa was finally prised from the crease, caught behind off the bowling of medium-pacer Shiv Thakor, and found good support from Amila Aponso , who contributed 48 to an 84-run partnership for the seventh wicket on his Youth Test debut.
