Spurs fans would love Ryan Fraser at the club

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been calling for the club to make one out-of-contract star a Spurs player this summer – and it’s not Willian.

It comes after Football Insider revealed that AFC Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser has ‘told friends’ he would be keen on joining the north London outfit if they make a move for him.

The Greatest Bargains in Premier League history – How much did they cost?

World Class score: 95% | Expert score: 80% | Veteran score: 65% | Intermediate score: 45% | Amateur score: 30% | Try Again: 5%

They also claim that a club of Spurs’ calibre would interest the 26-year-old whilst the club could appear to be keen on a deal given their potential transfer budget ahead of next season.

The Scotsman appears set to leave the Cherries when his contract expires having scored one goal and provided four assists for them in 28 Premier League appearances, via WhoScored. Fraser has also averaged 1.6 key passes, one cross and one shot per game this term.

Many of the Spurs faithful have been drooling over the prospect of landing a proven top-flight player like Fraser, describing the possibility as a “no-brainer.”

Manchester City: Adama Traore’s possible arrival could spell bad news for Raheem Sterling [Opinion]

Manchester City are believed to be among three Premier League clubs vying for the signature of Wolves winger Adama Traore, according to reports from French media.

Le10 Sport claimed that Pep Guardiola’s side, along with Liverpool and Manchester United, are in the hunt for the 24-year-old, who has enjoyed a very impressive season at Molineux.

Traore has stood out at Wolves this season with six goals and 10 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions. Remarkably, half of that goals tally has come at the expense of Manchester City, with the Spaniard scoring twice in his team’s 2-0 win at the Etihad Stadium and on target again in their eventful 3-2 victory over the Premier League champions at Molineux. [via TransferMarkt]

Little more than a year ago, he was admitting to the Express & Star that his end product needed to be far better. His figures this season show that he has improved greatly in that respect, while the 24-year-old possesses pace to burn. Indeed, as reported by Birmingham Live, his prime sprint speed has been clocked at just under 23 miles per hour, the fastest in England’s top flight and on a par with world champion sprinter Usain Bolt.

Traore regularly occupies a right winger role at Wolves and, should he make the switch to Manchester City, he would have Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez as competition in that area.

The Algerian has been excellent this season, contributing nine goals and 14 assists from the right flank, while the Portugal winger has a broadly similar strike rate to Traore, scoring seven times in 40 appearances. Interestingly, his most productive position this term has been on the left wing, with three of his goals coming from that side.

While Traore’s possible arrival could leave Guardiola with an abundance of right wingers, transfer reports linking Leroy Sane with Bayern Munich may raise questions about the depth on the left flank, where the German is joined by Raheem Sterling in the current Manchester City squad.

The England winger began the season in scintillating form but then endured a prolonged scoring drought since the end of 2019, last finding the net against Traore’s Wolves nearly five months ago (as per TransferMarkt).

As Guardiola knows all too well, the Molineux winger has the ability and potency to make defences suffer and he should offer a strong boost to City’s attacking options were he to come to the Etihad. In turn, the manager may use Bernardo primarily as a left winger, which could well put Sterling’s place in the team under threat.

The champions’ reported pursuit of Traore could be the warning spark for the England winger to awake from his slumber and get back to the form he showed early in the season. Otherwise, he might find himself playing backup to Bernardo.

Man City fans, do you think Traore would get into Guardiola’s first XI if he came to the Etihad? Whose place do you think he could threaten? Comment below with your views!

Liverpool: Reds could have halve £25m asking price for Harry Wilson

As per Football Insider, Liverpool are prepared to let Harry Wilson go for half of the £25m they wanted for him last summer.

Wilson, who has spent this campaign on loan at Bournemouth, is said to be a target for Leeds United, but the potential transfer fee may have been a stumbling block.

However, the current pandemic could well lower the Anfield outfit’s demands, and the report says that their new asking price could well be around half what it was just 12 months ago.

Despite Bournemouth struggling at the wrong end of the table this campaign, Wilson has been in good form during his time on the pitch. In 19 Premier League starts, he managed seven goals, which was only beaten by striker Callum Wilson for the Cherries.

That form follows on from an impressive term spent under Frank Lampard at Derby. As the Rams made the Championship play-off final, the 23-year-old scored an impressive 18 goals in all competitions, mainly from the wing.

Michael Edwards has been known for getting very good fees for players who have underperformed – he sold Jordon Ibe and Dominic Solanke for £15m and £19m respectively when they had only scored 12 goals between them by the time of their departures. Selling Wilson for less than both of them when he has already shown his quality on a more regular basis would surely be an error for Liverpool and may damage Edwards’ reputation slightly. Irregardless of the current pandemic, the Reds can do better than that.

Arsenal: Mesut Ozil provides little worth anymore after he is dumped by Adidas

Mesut Ozil provides little worth to Arsenal anymore as Bild (via The Daily Mail) reported that Adidas have decided to end their seven-year, £17.5 million association with him.

As per the outlet, the sportswear giant have chosen not to renew the playmaker’s sponsorship deal, a partnership which expires this month having started in 2013 and was worth around £2.5 million a year.

Ozil previously had a tie-up with rivals Nike and was a marquee capture for Adidas, joining the likes of Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba and Gareth Bale in their stable.

They are the German national team’s long-standing kit makers and also have their HQ in the country, making the central attacking midfield player a prize addition at the time.

Sources have told The Daily Mail that the decision not to extend the partnership is not connected to any controversies Ozil has previously been involved in, such as his retirement from international football.

Instead, the 31-year old’s deal was up for renewal at a time when his profile and status has fallen, leaving Adidas reluctant to commit to another big contract on similar terms.

Indeed, Ozil has arguably declined since the time that he joined the Gunners, to the extent that his performances in the 2019/2020 season so far have perhaps not quite been up to scratch.

The German playmaker has made just three assists and scored one goal in 23 appearances in all competitions, according to Transfermarkt.

AFC may have benefited from Adidas merchandise associated with Ozil sold, but the fact that he has now been dumped, coupled with his relatively underwhelming displays as of late, mean that he provides little worth at the Emirates anymore.

Tottenham Hotspur: Daniel Levy faces transfer battle for Pierluigi Gollini

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to plenty of big names as the transfer window draws near but no moves have materialised as of yet.

However, this may be all about to change as Tottenham are interested in Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini. According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Spurs are keen to sign the Serie A star as he looks set to leave the Gewiss Stadium in the summer.

Jose Mourinho is eager to find a keeper who will be an eventual replacement for Hugo Lloris. The club captain has arguably struggled for consistency this season as he has only kept two clean sheets in the Premier League so far.

With that in mind, Mourinho is considering a move for Gollini, who previously played for Aston Villa. In fact, the Italian started his career at Manchester United but never made a senior appearance for the Old Trafford outfit.

However, Atalanta are reportedly ready to play hardball, which could leave room for Daniel Levy to work his magic.

Indeed, it is worth remembering that, after a year of stagnant negotiations, Levy wasted no time at all and jumped on a plane to convince Luka Modric to sign for Spurs, famously telling Damien Comolli that the Croatian had signed the contract at 3am (The Independent).

The Italian outlet claims that the Nerazzurri are demanding somewhere in the region of €25m and €30m, which roughly equates to £27m, for his signature. Levy faces stiff competition from Roma as Gollini could replace Pau Lopez, who has attracted attention from a number of Premier League clubs.

Nevertheless, whether or not the Spurs chairman decides to splash the cash remains to be seen, as he has developed a reputation for penny-pinching in the past.

Manchester United: Fans furious after Laurie Whitwell sheds new light on Harry Maguire

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire played through the pain for two months with a hip injury sustained in January.

Maguire moved to Old Trafford from Leicester City for £80m last year, which is a world record fee for a defender.

He has subsequently helped Ole Gunnar Solskjaer turn things around at the Theatre of Dreams, as Man United are unbeaten since the 2-0 defeat at home to Burnley.

According to The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, as per @utdreport, Maguire took pain-killing injections to cope with the injury.

Going into the game against Crystal Palace, the Red Devils had conceded the same amount of goals as Manchester City, fewer than top four rivals Chelsea and Leicester City, with three games left to play this season.

However, Maguire has copped a fair amount of criticism from Roy Keane lately, as the club legend has slammed him for getting beaten so easily.

The 27-year-old has suffered a dip in form in recent weeks, as United failed to keep a clean sheet against Southampton in a bitter blow to their hopes of reaching the top four.

Moreover, it is worth pointing out former boss Jose Mourinho came under scrutiny after Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw were caught taking the same pain relief several years ago.

Unsurprisingly, lots of United fans blasted the news on social media, with several supporters slating Maguire’s recent displays.

Mourinho swoop for Luis Diaz would be shades of Ginola at Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho could be aiming to bring some flair back to north London if latest transfer reports are to be believed.

What’s the word?

According to Portuguese newspaper Record, Porto winger Luis Diaz has attracted the interest of the Spurs boss ahead of a potential summer switch.

Further fuel has been added to the fire by Caracol, who claim that Mourinho is pushing for the club to sign the Colombian international.

It’s also suggested that Diaz’s former club Atletico Junior would be entitled to 20% of any transfer following the 23-year-old’s €7m (£6.3m) switch to Porto last summer, so that could have some effect towards his asking price.

Shades of Ginola

Spurs have plenty of options on the wing, which perhaps makes this move a tad bit puzzling but none possess the sort of flamboyancy or exuberance that David Ginola once brought to the Lilywhites.

The Frenchman was known for his magical touch and ability to beat defenders all ends up and it appears as if Diaz is very similar in nature – and he’s got that golden goalscoring touch.

Per WhoScored, the 13-time international provided 13 goals and three assists in all competitions, which includes the Europa League, the competition Tottenham will be competing in next term. He also averaged 1.6 shots, 1.5 dribbles with only 1.3 dispossessions per game too.

The £8.1m-rated winger has already impressed scouts at Spurs after they witnessed his display against Rangers last year and although it’s not known if they were there specifically for him, his goal would have certainly stood out.

It remains to be seen how much Diaz might command, but Spurs shouldn’t turn their nose up at this opportunity if it comes by.

Ivan Toney: Celtic’s transfer offer is an insult from Nick Hammond

Celtic are going to have to quit playing games if they are to land one of their sought-after transfer targets this summer.

What’s the word?

According to The Sun, the Scottish champions have seen a bid of £5m laughed away by Peterborough United for striker Ivan Toney and they’ve been fired a warning by director of football Barry Fry.

He’s told the Hoops to “get serious” over their star man as he could rake them serious profit in the future, adding: “They mentioned they may be selling one or two. I think they’re trying it on to try to get Toney cheap. Toney would be a revelation for Celtic, he’d be a star, for definite. He’d score 30 to 40 goals up there, he really would. Celtic will get £40-50m for him.”

It’s also claimed that Championship playoff finalists Brentford have tabled a £9m bid for the talisman.

Go all out

This should have alarm bells ringing in Hammond’s ears as the Bees’ offer is nearly double that of Celtic’s yet you can argue the Scottish giants are ten times the bigger outfit with them in the Champions League qualification stages this term.

Neil Lennon needs strength in depth as he aims for a tenth title in a row and adding an impressive second-fiddle to Odsonne Edouard would be key – or even as a replacement given the interest in Frenchman.

A £15m fee has been mooted as the League One outfit’s asking price, which is fair going considering he’s provided a whopping 26 goals and seven assists in all competitions this season, via Transfermarkt.

Former Posh boss Steve Evans lauded the 24-year-old as a “dream” to work due to his “phenomenal” work rate, which only emphasises why Hammond should fork out.

If Fry’s words ring true in the future, the Scottish giants would be getting a very prolific talisman and one that they could profit from substantially, it’s a no-brainer.

It would be a disaster to pass up such an opportunity, so it’s time for Celtic to put in a proper bid that’s much higher than their insulting lowball first attempt.

Coventry: CSKA Sofia midfielder Graham Carey emerges as target

Coventry City boss Mark Robins is showing interest in CSKA Sofia midfielder Graham Carey, according to Top Sport as quoted by Coventry LIVE.

Sky Blues boss Robins has done some excellent work in bolstering his squad options since he masterminded his side to the League One title and automatic promotion to the Championship.

Gustavo Hamer and Julien Dacosta were two of the first names through the door at the club, whilst Marcel Hilssner has also been joined by former Aston Villa youngster Callum O’Hare and Ryan Giles.

With the new 2020/2021 season fast approaching, interest in a number of other players has emerged with Ipswich Town striker Kayden Jackson emerging as a potential signing.

Adding to the interest directed towards Jackson, Coventry are also now said to be keen on making a move for Carey.

The 31-year-old Dublin born midfielder made 18 appearances for CSKA Sofia last season, netting one goal and gaining two assists in the process.

The report also goes on to add that both Bolton Wanderers and Dundee United are keen to make a move for the former Republic of Ireland under-21 international.

Carey has a current contract with Sofia which runs until next summer and is valued by Transfermarkt at £360,000.

Whilst Mark Robins’ transfer business has been excellent this summer, a move for Carey is one that does seem strange, especially if he is wanted by League Two side Bolton. Indeed he is now 31-years-old and despite having spells at Plymouth Argyle and Huddersfield Town, he has never played above League One level in the English game.

Robins needs to find consistent performers and experienced ones at that and it would remain to be seen if Carey could come in and provide such.

Do you think Carey would be a good signing? Let us know in the comments section below…

Milan Skriniar is everything Spurs need to get back into the Champions League

Whilst Tottenham Hotspur go about their summer business rather quietly, one transfer saga just won’t go away…

What’s the word?

According to RMC Sport (via Sport Witness), Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte will not waiver from his interest in Spurs’ club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele.

It’s claimed that the Serie A outfit will come back in with another offer in the coming days, which will open up a potential swap deal with one of their current stars.

Jose Mourinho is a fan of central defender Milan Skriniar, who is valued at £45m, whereas he’s not taken too kindly to the Frenchman since he took charge in November.

Aggressive leader

Spurs are lacking in the defensive department following the exit of long-serving veteran Jan Vertonghen, so involving Skriniar in some form would surely be smart business.

In Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier they lack an aggressive leader – someone like a John Terry or Ricardo Carvalho, who Mourinho had at Chelsea – and that’s what the Slovakian colossus would bring.

Skriniar has been likened to former Liverpool enforcer Martin Skrtel as well as Alessandro Nesta.

“He has always been the leader on and off the pitch,” claims his former youth coach Tibor Goljan whilst Goal lauded him as one of the signings of the summer in 2018, describing the Inter brute as “a strong tackler who is quick to make clearances.”

The 25-year-old impressed on the biggest stage this season, averaging 2.5 tackles, 2.3 clearances and 1.8 interceptions coming up against Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund, via WhoScored, so he seems like the perfect candidate to help lead Spurs back into the Champions League.

It was only one season ago that they made the final.

Carvalho was integral to Chelsea winning two PL titles and one FA Cup under Mourinho and in Skriniar, he’ll be getting a similar figure who can truly kickstart his era in north London.
